Sunday and Holy Day Mass Obligation Reinstated by Archbishop Wester

Sunday and Holy Day Mass Obligation Reinstated by Archbishop Wester

My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

For some time now, the obligation of the faithful to assist at Sunday Mass has been temporarily abrogated due to the coronavirus pandemic. Given the current situation of the virus, its less severe symptoms, the availability of vaccines and the advice of the medical establishment, I now reinstate the obligation of the faithful to assist at Sunday Mass and all other Holy Days of Obligation. Please note that the Catechism of the Catholic Church makes it clear that "Those who fail in this obligation commit a grave sin." (CCC, 2181) However, the obligation itself is a welcome one in that its intent is to bring together God's holy people so that they might be sustained by Word and Sacrament, formed more perfectly as the Body of Christ and missioned for service throughout their lives. .....letter continued here

 Mission Statement

The Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church seeks to help people accept the reality of death in a context of faith and the promise of eternal life with God. Our facility and services include a place to be buried; an environment designed to meet the needs of the Catholic liturgy for burial; a facility that encourages frequent visitation with attendant prayer for the dead and an environment in which love is remembered; hope is rekindled; and faith is awakened and strengthened.
